“You are the future. What will you and your generation do to grow the Catholic Church in your community?”
This is the topic for the 2022 Knight of Columbus scholarship essay.
Hannah Savage writes: “Throughout my entire life in elementary and high school, I have noticed that many of my classmates have not been religious. Most of the students were not even aware of the many ways religion is in our culture, such as why we celebrate Christmas and Easter. Most kids think those holidays are about Santa and the Easter bunny, but they are missing out on the celebration of Jesus because they were never introduced to the Catholic Church. I want to have a program in many different high schools in our area that students can join to get them educated about our Church, in hopes that they would want to join. The program could include talking about what it means to be Catholic, telling stories from the Bible, and even taking trips to the Church to experience Mass. I think that would be the best way to reach as many kids as possible and widen their horizons. I think many students would be interested in this and it would be a great way to hopefully get new members and grow our Church community.” All the time!!! God is good!!!
