God is good!!! All the time!!! All the time!!! God is good!!!
I had a safe trip to Uganda for my vacation. I had a wonderful time with my family, relatives and friends. I spent most of the time at home with my mother, my two brothers and their families and the children of the neighbors who spent most of their time also with us. The temperature ranged between 55°F at night and up to 85°F during the day with very low humidity. Being the dry season, the main challenge was getting enough water. My brother, Fr. Paul Opoki, made the over 450 miles journey home by public transport. He is getting better and is able to celebrate the Holy Mass once again. He greatly appreciates your prayers and the financial help you sent to him for his treatment and rehabilitation. From Jan 13 to Jan 16 we had a family reunion and were able to get together all of us. We had a great time together. My mother, brothers and sisters and their families are all so very grateful for the prayers and financial help you sent when our brother suffered a stroke, and for the gifts that you sent for them. They marvel at how people who do not know them, whom they have never met and may never meet, could be so kind-hearted and generous to them. They told me to pass their gratitude and prayer for each one of you! God bless!
Ash Wednesday is on February 22, 2023.Lent has been considered the time to renew one’s life through prayer, resisting temptations, fasting and alms-giving. Prayer: asking from God the strength, power and the force to convert, believe and live the Gospel; resisting temptations or fight against evil is an essential part of Christian life in order to keep passions and selfishness under control; fasting: the practice of self-denial or giving up our likings to overcome selfishness; fasting is linked with charity, as Pope St. Leo the Great said in one of his homilies, “……what you spare on ordinary expenses is changed into food for the poor…” In the Sacrament of Reconciliation we show our willingness to repent and convert and be reconciled with God and with one another.
